Beyond the ordinary

Juliette W Gregson is a Blackpool based heritage historian, photographer, and writer whose work focuses on documenting and preserving the rich cultural and social history of Blackpool. She is widely recognised in local media and heritage circles for her detailed research, visual documentation, and storytelling about the town’s past.

Juliette’s passion for history began in childhood, influenced by her family and early exposure to photography. Her grandfather, who worked at Blackpool Pleasure Beach, gave her behind the scenes access to the town’s attractions, sparking a lifelong interest in how places evolve over time. Professionally, she has built a varied portfolio as a heritage archivist, photographer, and community journalist. She regularly contributes articles to local publications, exploring subjects such as historic buildings, local figures, and the development of Blackpool’s landmarks. She has also been fortunate enough to be asked to contribute both photographs and written prose which have been used in books, magazines and television programmes.

Her work often combines archival research with personal insight, making local history accessible and engaging for a wider audience. In addition to writing, Juliette is an accomplished photographer, documenting events, architecture, and heritage sites across the Fylde Coast. Her photography has been used in media coverage and public events, including cultural and historical features in the region.

She is also a published author, known for works such as Blackpool North Pier, which explores the history of one of the town’s most iconic seaside structures through narrative and imagery. Her broader creative work includes voiceovers, podcast appearances, and public speaking at heritage groups, where she shares her knowledge of local history, paranormal heritage, and community stories.

A distinctive feature of Juliette's work is her interest in the paranormal and lesser-known stories of Blackpool, often blending folklore with historical research. This adds a unique dimension to her writing and presentations, appealing to both history enthusiasts and those interested in the town’s more mysterious and murky past. Juliette has established herself as a dedicated and influential voice in preserving Blackpool’s heritage, using a combination of research, photography, and storytelling to ensure that the town’s history continues to be recorded and appreciated by future generations.
